"The "New" Tom Tancredo is not the one Colorado sent to Congress ten years ago...

Once upon a time, Tom Tancredo was a hard-working Congressman speaking out on an unpopular issue. Tancredo was vocal on getting the Republican Party to address the issue of border security and he eventually accomplished his goal. After the rest of Republican Party came around on the issue of border security, Tancredo felt that he had to go even further than everyone else to keep getting attention."

"The Hill reported today that U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., is “weighing a run for governor in Colorado” and that he had sounded out former U.S. Rep. Bob Beauprez (who ran unsuccessfully for governor in 2006) about avoiding a primary.

Tancredo, whose failed bid for the GOP presidential nomination focused on the immigration issue, was hailed this week by the fellow Republican seeking to fill his seat, Colorado Secretary of State Mike Coffman.

Calling Denver a sanctuary city for illegal immigrants, GOP state lawmakers have joined anti-immigration stalwart Congressman Tom Tancredo to request that Gov. Bill Ritter, a Democrat, cut off state funding to the city. The Republicans charge that the Denver is not complying with a state law requiring law enforcement officials to hand over criminal arrestees alleged to be illegal aliens to federal authorities.

With Armstrong locked in a four-way primary, the move by Andrews could translate into crucial votes on August 12th's primary day.
