"Less than two weeks after the election, left-wing activists and bloggers have already turned their attention towards Sen. Ken Salazar. Seeking to punish Salazar for brief moments of lucidity such as helping to push through President Bush's judicial and cabinet appointees; Salazar is being targeted for a primary challenge in 2010. Liberal blogs SquareState and ColoradoPols are buzzing with talk of sacking Salazar. ProgressivePartner.org seems to be dedicated solely to taking on Ken Salazar and alludes to being backed by an as-yet unknown candidate waiting in the wings."

Salazar, Hickenlooper, Romer

Democrats and their supporters gathered last night at Denver's downtown Sheraton Hotel to celebrate the turning of Colorado from a purple state into solid blue.

"Democratic Senator Ken Salazar will never be confused with a charismatic wordsmith. But his blunt way of speaking proved hugely entertaining yesterday, when, during a conference call, he went off on Republican Marilyn Musgrave and her most recent attack ad against opposing Dem Betsy Markey. Salazar called Musgrave "an agent of hate" and claimed that the commercial was "so absolutely over the top that it should make the people of the 4th Congressional District throw up.""

"When politicians steps down either because of term limits or other reasons, their peers often pay homage to their outgoing brethren. Today U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar, D-Colo., paid tribute to his colleague, Sen. Wayne Allard, R-Colo.

Here is the text of Salazar’s speech."

Amendment 54 ad

September 23, 2008

In response to alleged backroom political deals between the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce and union bosses, Amendment 54 is launching a strongly worded ad that calls the collaboration an “unholy alliance.”

"Ken Salazar in his blind ambition to be elected to the U.S. Senate in 2004 seemed to have been willing to accept money from just about anyone. As if Salazar's acceptance of campaign money from a New Jersey law firm now at the center of a criminal corruption probe wasn't bad enough, one of his campaign donors is now facing up to 87 months in prison for hiding political contributions from the IRS."

Salazar misses an opportunity on oil shale

July 23, 2008

Why is Colorado’s junior Senator against progress and production in America's energy industry?

"The only conclusion we can draw from [Salazar's] record is that he opposes increasing the supply of domestic oil – wherever or however it is proposed. The fact is Colorado is sitting on one of the world’s largest deposits of oil. The Green River Basin in Colorado, Wyoming and Utah has an estimated 1.7 trillion to 2. 1 trillion barrels of oil. This accounts for 62% of worldwide oil shale reserves, which amounts to over 800 million more barrels of oil than the world’s proven oil reserves."

GOP goes on offensive regarding $4 gas

A Face the State Staff Report

June 23, 2008

As gas prices reach an all-time high in Colorado — with the average price hitting $4 a gallon for the first time Thursday — local Republicans are charging that Democrats controlling state government are to blame in part due to their continued alienation of the energy industry.
