Two retirements are opening spots on the Colorado Court of Appeals.
Judges Sandra I. Rothenberg and JoAnn L. Vogt are leaving the bench effective Jan. 13.
Lawyers who have been practicing law in Colorado for five years can apply for the position. The deadline for the applications to be submitted is July 18. More details can be found at www.courts.state.co.us/exec/media/vacancy.htm.
A selection commission will screen applicants and recommend nominees to the governor. Appointed judges serve a two-year provisional term before going through a retention election, in which voters can elect a judge to an eight year term.
