Gov. Bill Ritter's Blue Ribbon Transportation Panel will meet today to begin work on a public awareness campaign to tell residents about Colorado's transportation funding problem.
The panel was scheduled to sunset June 30, but Ritter has directed the 32-member committee to continue working for another year. The committee includes Greeley businessman Bob Tointon.
The committee is also charged with crafting proposals that lawmakers may consider during the 2009 legislative session.
Tuesday's meeting -- 1 p.m. at 1290 Broadway, Denver, at the Denver Regional Council of Governments office -- will include discussion with state representatives and senators and reports from working groups on transit, coalition building, public education and proposal option.
