Are protesters arrested during the DNC getting a fair hearing in court?

More on that in a moment on the Face The State Radio Minute.

Denver isn’t quite done with the DNC. The Rocky Mountain News reports 27 individuals arrested during the convention were in court last week for preliminary hearings. Many face multiple charges from obstructing streets to ignoring police orders.

Prosecutors must provide evidence to substantiate each and every accusation. That may prove difficult for the city attorney to do, particularly in the case of Chase Goll, a self-described art student charged with – begging.

Maybe he begged police for an explanation for his arrest. But I doubt he was panhandling while shooting photos. The city has been less than forthcoming with evidence backing up that charge and dozens of others.

Civil rights may be trampled in the process. If protesters broke the law, it shouldn’t be hard to prove it with some hard evidence.
