Colorado’s state employees union had a big convention on Saturday. I’d love to tell you about it, but the press wasn’t allowed.
More on that in a moment on the Face The State Radio Minute.
The Web site for Colorado WINS, the state’s biggest public employee union, says quote “everybody” is involved in its effort to unionize government. As it turns out, “everybody” doesn’t include reporters curious about organized labor.
The union had a big convention this last Saturday, and Face The State’s reporters requested to attend. Request denied. Something about a lack of space.
This isn’t the first time Colorado WINS has moved to hide its activities from the media. A state employee, at the direction of the union, threw one of our reporters out of a public building when she attempted to cover an organizing meeting. What were they hiding?
Gov. Bill Ritter, who signed the executive order unionizing state government, talks a lot about transparency. Too bad his friends in organized labor aren’t listening.
For FaceTheState.com, I’m Kate Melvin.
