Barack Obama – I mean, the messiah – delivers his acceptance speech tonight at Invesco Field in Denver. And the change in venue has brought in millions for the cash-strapped Democrats running the show.
More on that in a moment on the Face The State Radio Minute.
When the Federal government spends too much money, often times the answer is to just print more money. For the cash-strapped organizers of this week’s Democratic National Convention, a similar logic applies. When donors were slow to pony up the millions needed to throw the giant party, Obama’s folks had an idea. Move to an arena with more seats – and twice as many expensive luxury boxes.
First came a bait-and-switch routine, where supporters who had requested tickets were told they must volunteer for the campaign or lose their seats. Then we learned tickets to the speech were sold out –unless you had $1,000 to spare.
If you’ve got the money, politicians are listening.
