Are politicians finally getting the message that more money won’t fix our failing schools?
More on that in a moment on the Face The State Radio Minute.
I don’t need to tell you election season is in full swing. Politicians are telling us how they’ll improve our nation’s schools. And the education lobby has a huge presence at this week’s convention in Denver.
Recently, a bipartisan group of politicians gathered at the state capitol to reaffirm their commitment to good schools. But one thing you didn’t hear was a plea for more tax money. Here’s state Sen. Nancy Spence.
SPENCE: "There was no talk about more money for schools, it was about reform in more relevant ways."
Is the tide turning against the entrenched union interests who blindly push for more spending? Not quite yet – State House speaker Andrew Romanoff is pushing for a giant, forever tax increase for education.
Senator Spence is right – money isn’t the answer.

More money won't fix public schools

I couldn't agree with you (and Nancy Spence) more. As a current candidate for
the State School board I have a web-site and a blog and I would invite readers to visit my blog for... Money Can't Buy.... We have subscribed to this fiction that, if we just had more money we could have better schools, for far too long.
