Face The State managing editor Brad Jones talks with Newstalk 1310 KFKA's Amy Oliver about Rep. Andrew Romanoff's struggles in gaining ballot access, and Gov. Bill Ritter's taxpayer-funded trip to Spain. The Speaker of the House is having a tough time securing a place on the November ballot for his proposal to gut the Taxpayer's Bill of Rights to funnel more money into K-12 education. Can the young go-getter from Denver collect the 25,000 signatures a week he needs before an Aug. 4 deadline?

Ritter arrives today in Spain for a two day trade mission, but is the transcontinental jaunt really necessary? Government officials have confirmed the junket is taxpayer-funded, but little else became clear over the weekend as his press staff waited until the last minute to announce the trip. What's the carbon footprint for four round-trip tickets to Madrid?
